Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat to knee.
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: chill in the air!

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Oct. 18th at 8:00 a.m.

The Carolina Surf Film Festival is THIS weekend – that’s Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19; at Tradesman Brewing Co., downtown. Tickets and more information available at carolinasurffilmfestival.com.

We will have the full line of Billabong and O’Neill jackets, full-suits, and spring suits on the floor. Get ready for some cooler weather. Looks like waves on the way next week.

Surf at the pier this morning is knee high and not really cooperating with these sideshore conditions we’re seeing.

Winds are NNE at 15+ knots, and surf is sideshore with a chilly in the air this morning.

We see winds trend more easterly throughout the day, becoming 5-10 knots this evening.

We have a high tide at 11:16 a.m, and a low tide will be at 5:40 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 3 seconds in NNE wind swell.

As high pressure sets up today and into the evening, we don’t expect much surf, but we see low pressure move in from the SW tomorrow, bringing some power with it from tropical cyclone conditions. We should expect on-shore winds and some choppy surf late Saturday through Tuesday. While the weather will certainly be unsettled, there should be choppy surf to ride Sunday, with winds predicted to fall off some early in the work week. Get a spring-suit or jacket so you can get in the water. It’s cooling off!

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Cool and dry high pressure will prevail today. A storm system originating from the
Gulf of Mexico will bring unsettled weather tonight through Saturday
night. A cold front will move through Monday night, followed by dry high pressure.”

It’s 57* and clear this morning. Time for some serious neoprene. Look for a high of 71* and mostly sunny skies.

Water temperature has dropped to 76*.

Sunrise is at 7:25 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:43 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
