Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, May 12 at 8:30 a.m.
We have a ton of longboards, short-boards and fun-boards on our consignment racks at great prices. The selection is insane right now, so come find your new stick!
Surf at the Washout is running thigh to waist high. Occasionally, there is a stomach high set. It’s not epic, but still rideable.
Winds are southerly at 4 to 6 knots, and surf is semi-clean
Look for southerly winds at 10 to 12 knots chopping up the surf this afternoon.
Low tide is at 12:13. We have a high tide at 6:38 p.m.
The Edisto buoy reading 3.0 ft. at 9 seconds in south-east medium period swell and south/south-west wind swell mix.
We still have some south-east swell in the water today, even if it’s not too big. It’s still rideable, and kind of clean. This swell fades out for Sunday and into early work week, before picking back up again during the middle of next week. We see an upper level disturbance bring south winds and stormy weather to the beach Tuesday through Saturday of next week, and choppy rideable wind swell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Unseasonably warm Atlantic high pressure will prevail across the region through the weekend. An upper level disturbance is expected to bring unsettled weather to the region beginning Monday, continuing through much of next week.”
It is sunny and 75 as of report time. Look for a warm day with a high of 82* today and sun.
Water temperature is now up to around 73*.
Sunset is at 8:07 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:24 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
