Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, April 24 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a shipment of men’s Billabong 2 MM short-sleeve full suits for the spring session. Come get them while we still have some in stock. Make sure to go cheer on Ocean Team Rider, Scott Whitesell, at the Contest down at the Washout today!
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee to waist high (occ. larger sets). It is weak, mushed out, and slightly glassy. There’s potential for a log if you feel like getting wet today and likely a shortboard this afternoon with the swell push.
Winds are south-east at 10-15 knots this morning, with higher gusts.
Look for winds to maintain this direction all day increasing to 15+ knots this afternoon and remainder of the evening.
Low tide is at 12:21 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:42p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 5.2 ft at 5 seconds in a short-period south, south-east wind swell passing by our beaches.
Waves are pretty weak, although they do pack some potential today, likely this afternoon if you can handle higher winds on the water. A Low pressure moves into our marine area and offshore on today, so keep an eye on the cam for this afternoon, as the waves should increase in size as the day progresses. Winds go north-west for Sunday, which looks like the call for some cleaner, fun surf.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Approaching low pressure will bring a cold front across the waters, preceded by showers, isolated thunderstorms, wind, and rough seas, that could last into early Sunday. High pressure will slowly cross the region late Sunday through Tuesday.”
It’s a cool 66* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 72* and showers this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 69*.
Sunrise is at 6:39 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:56 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
