Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, April 30 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high.
Winds are south/south-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is semi-choppy. It is soft at the higher tide, but bring the high-volume board and catch a few.
Look for south winds to increase late morning at 10 to 15 knots. It will gust to 20 knots late afternoon.
We have a high tide as of report time, and low tide will be at 2:17 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:39 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 12 seconds in an east/south-east swell mixed with a south-east wind swell: 2 feet at 5 seconds. Not much showing here at the beach.
We will likely see a continued small south wind swell/ground swell for today into Sunday averaging knee-to-thigh high (plus/minus) with beautiful beach weather on tap. There should be lazy, small trade-wind swell for next week as high pressure sets up just to our north. Nothing too big, but perhaps some longboard surf and nice weather. A cold-front approaches late in the work week and surf should increase in choppy south-west wind swell late Thursday into Friday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will generally prevail into the middle of next week. A cold front should approach the region late next week.”
It’s 68* with sun this morning. Look for the perfect beach day with a high of 78* and sun.
Water Temperature is around 72*.
Sunrise is at 6:33 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:01 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
