Saturday, April 5th

Fairly Clean. Little side shore this afternoon

Time of Report: 8:15 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh-waist
Traffic: Moderate
Parking: Some.
Dangers: Spring Break/Bridge Run Weekend

Good morning, this is Chachismo with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, April 5th at 8:15am. Bridge run, tennis tournament, Final Four and a little surf for the first ESA contest of the year tomorrow. Gonna be a busy weekend for Charleston.

Waves are still running thigh to waist high on the sets at the pier and fairly clean with the light morning winds. Lefts are lining up nicely. Starting to shed the neoprene. A top will do the trick and We have those and spring suits in the shop if you are ready to put that full suit away for the summer.

Winds are light out of the south, forecasted to pick up 10-15mph later today and gusty. Similar to yesterday.

We are coming off a low tide at 8:49 am. Hight tide will be 3:00 pm with the next low tide at 8:55pm after sunset.

Edisto buoy is currently reading 3.6 ft at 8 seconds in a medium period swell from the southeast.

Surf is still showing some sets pushing through about thigh to waist high or so and should improve as the tide fills in later today. Yesterday afternoon was pretty fun on the rising ride. High pressure still staying offshore keeping a trade swell alive for us. Surf looks to pick up in size Sunday and Monday. There is a possibility for a clean up either late Monday or early Tuesday. We’ll see.

Should see continued surf into the weekend.

Our friends from NOAA predict, “Strong high pressure centered over the Atlantic will prevail this weekend, before a cold front impacts the area on Monday. High pressure will then return for the middle of next week. Another cold front could move through late in the week.

The water temperature is around 65* and should warm up into the low 70s later today.

It’s currently 67* with a high of about 72* with passing clouds throughout the day.

Sunrise was at 7:03am and sunset will be at 7:42pm.

Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
