Traffic: Not too bad, but it's still spring break.
Parking: Yes.
Dangers: Flat golf cart tires.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, April 8 at 8:30 a.m.

We have new Secula, Stewart and Rusty boards in the shop. About 20 new fresshies in the shop. So, if you’re feeling squirrely, come check them out. Also, lots of spring suits are in stock for men and women.

Surf has definitely changed this morning with a north blow. It’s starting to build at thigh to waist high, but the wind has shifted to the north/north-east at 15 to 20, and gone are the days of the perfect spring break weather, at least for today.

So, surf is side-shore and getting ready to be as drifty and as big as your mom’s attitude on a full bottle of chardonnay.

Winds will continue from the north-east and increase today at 15 to 20 knots with a gust to 25.

We have a high tide at 9:55 a.m., low tide will be at 3:57 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 8 feet at 7 seconds in a high-angled east/north-east wind swell.

A cold front is moving through the area starting this Saturday morning, and we will see a big north-east blow and bigger high angled north-east wind swell from today through Wednesday with very windy, drifty, semi-choppy and much cooler conditions. There will likely be more size to the surf Sunday through Tuesday, but local conditions won’t be ideal. Head to south Florida. It’ll likely be much bigger, but the wind will likely be blowing as a (maybe tropical) low departs from the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday, across the Florida Peninsula and into the Atlantic Sunday and into next week. Hopefully this will turn some easterly swell into our beaches.

Your NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will remain stalled just south of the area while a series of disturbances moves through today and tonight. Dry high pressure will build in Sunday and persist through Wednesday night. Gulf low pressure could affect the area Thursday through Friday.”

It’s 55* with showers in the aera. Look for the weather to stay the same, with rain increasing this afternoon.

Water temperature is back up to 70 after all this warm weather. Expect it to go back down after the big north-east blow next week.

Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:43 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
