Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, August 15 at 8:30 a.m.

Gary Wilson, Album, Roberts and Jason Rowells boards arrived this week. Come check them out while we still have a good selection.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.

Mandatory mask ordinance is in effect for Folly.

Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high.

Winds are west at 10 knots, surf is side-shore but semi-clean.

Look for winds from the south this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots, increasing 15 to 20 knots. This will be adding surface chop to the surf-zone later today.

Low tide is at 11:08 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:41 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is only reading 1 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium-period south-east swell, with a short-period south-west wind swell component 2.3 ft at 4 seconds.

High pressure is east of our general marine area. Low pressure lingers inland. Looks like a little bit of choppy, short-period, south/south-west wind waves on-and-off for the weekend. Nothing to write home about, but likely some wind-chop to ride if you are into it. We have Tropical Storm Kyle moving east off the coast of North Carolina. It’s out of our swell window. Tropical Storm Josephine is now in the western Atlantic. It’ll likely start showing some longer-period swell Tuesday into-the latter part of next week. Nothing too big, but might be a few fun ones. We’ll keep you posted.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will persist inland today, while high pressure remains over the Atlantic. A weak cold front will approach the area tonight and then pass through on Sunday. A trough will redevelop over the region and persist through much of next week.”

It’s 80* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 87* and a 40% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Water temperature is 86*.

Sunrise is at 6:43 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:02 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
