Saturday August 25th Washout

wonky, semi choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh high
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: bulldozers

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, August 25 at 8:30 a.m.

Make sure to check out the Warrior Surf Foundation’s raffle at Bohemian Bull tonight. There will be eight surfboards raffled off, and three of them are signed by Jimmy Buffett. Check it out at warriorsurf.org.

Keep in mind bulldozers and beach nourishment area taking place at the Washout. They’ve added about 6 feet of sand and the area is currently blocked off.

Surf just south of the Washout, surf is knee to thigh high with a slightly bigger set in a wonky ENE swell.

Winds are NNE at 15 knots. Surf zone is slightly disorganized with a bit of a drift, however there are some clean faces.

Look for easterly winds this afternoon and variable winds as we see storms move into the area.

Low tide will be at 1:45 p.m., and high tide will be at 8:17 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 4.4 seconds in a short period ENE wind swell.

We should see an increase in high angled NE wind swell with semi-choppy conditions for the rest of the weekend as a front moves up the coast. High pressure early-mid week will likely not help us out, though we will see another cold front move through mid week, hopefully bringing with it some waves. Grab a high volume board and go get wet this weekend while there’s a little something to ride.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure north of the area will shift into the Atlantic early next week.”

It’s 76* and mostly sunny this morning with low humidity and even a little chill on the water. Look for a high of 84* and a chance of storms this afternoon.

Water temperature is 84*.

Sunset is at 7:53 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:47 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
