Parking: Some, yes.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday August 26th at 8:30 a.m.

Coming to you from the northside as we approach low tide. It’s pretty drained out, but you can see a little something in the water as it’s pretty clean out. Looking around thigh-waist high, but dumpy.

Winds are slack and the surf zone is clean. Expecting winds to stay around 5-10 kts as it swings from south-west to the south.

We have a low tide at 10:01 a.m., tide then fills in at 4:39 p.m. with a low tide after dark at 11:09 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 9 seconds in medium period east swell.

We have some high angled easterly swell still in the water. Currently Thigh-waist high.  We are still seeing a little groundswell, but any wind will chop it up today, as there are a lot of tropical spots to watch in the Atlantic Basin right now. But it’s really Tropical Storm Franklin, which is currently in the SE Caribbean, that is predicted to become a hurricane this weekend in our swell window. Franklin looks to push northward over the weekend, and should push up solid, long-period ground swell filling in late in the weekend into Monday and Tuesday of next week. Franklin is going to light up the whole East Coast. It’s going to be crowded, so get ready. Also models now hinting at a strong low to develop in the southern Gulf and cross over Florida into our marine area on Weds/Thursday of next week. We will keep you updated as that system is long-range and most likely models will shift in guidance a bit. Overall plenty of surf on tap.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through today. A cold front will move into the region late this weekend, then stall nearby. Tropical low pressure could impact the Southeast early to mid next week. Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s already 83* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 87* with sun mixed with clouds.

Sunrise is at 6:44 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:02 p.m.
