Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, August 5 at 8:30 a.m.

There is still a small wave to ride out here as the tide comes in this morning. It’s running thigh-to-waist high. Looks fun for the high-volume board.

Winds are light from the north-west, and surf zone is perfectly clean. It’s a pretty morning for a long-board session.

Winds are predicted from the south-east this afternoon at 5 to 10, and we could see slight surface chop on the waves later today, but not too choppy for your Saturday.

We have a high tide at 11:37 a.m., and a low tide will be at 5:41 pm. The only high tide of the day will be at 11:37 am.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 10 seconds in a long period easterly swell, with a short-period south/south-west wind swell reading 2.6 feet at 5 seconds.

Small waves for the high-volume board look OK for your Saturday morning, but look for a downward trend in the surf for Sunday and Monday. Tuesday, we see choppy, south-west wind swell pick up ahead of a frontal boundary. This continues into Wednesday, when we could see a small trade-wind style ground swell kick up a wave with a little better form for Thursday. Tropics aren’t kicking up anything definitive right now, but we’ll keep you updated.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A weak front will meander over the area through the weekend before another front potentially impacts the region mid next week.

Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s 79* with sun and a few clouds this morning. Look for a few clouds and sun mixed today, but overall not a lot of rain forecast. We’ll see a high of 84.

Sunrise is at 6:33 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:17 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
