Saturday, Dec. 12

Clean. Bumpy for afternoon.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat.
Traffic: Not much. There is, however a holiday market on Folly today.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, December 12 at 8:30 a.m.

If you need to dial up a gift card for the surfer in your life, call us at 843-588-9175 and we can drop one in the mail to you.

Sing this to the tune of Jingle Bells: “Flat, flat, flat. Flat, Flat, flat. Flat, flat, flat … flat, flat.” Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Surf at Folly is flat and weak this morning.

Winds are north at 5 knots, and surf-zone is clean.

Look for wind to switch south-west this afternoon at 10 knots, with small surf continuing.

Low tide is at 11:39 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:35 p.m.

Virtual buoy data isn’t really worth mentioning. There is not much swell out there today. Better day for a boat ride.

A series of cold fronts looks to pass through Monday, with a stronger system coming though Wednesday. So we should expect bigger surf to start the work week next week, with strong winds for the period. Short-period wind swell should start off from the south-west, go east/north-east, then go south-west again Wednesday, before falling off into Thursday morning. Not much to write home about, but there should be something to ride to end the dismal flat-spell we’ve endured over the past two weeks.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail today. A cold front will then move through the region Monday. A stronger storm system is forecasted to impact the region on  Wednesday, followed by high pressure for the second half of next week.”

It’s 57* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 65* and sun behind clouds today.

Water temperature has dropped to 58*.

Sunrise is at 7:13 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
