Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, Dec. 23 at 8:30 a.m.
Christmas is only two days away. Come see us, we’ll be open until 6 p.m. and closing at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee to thigh high. There might be a waist set. Best for your fattest board, but it’s semi rideable.
Winds are SSW at 5 knots. Surf is semi-clean. Light SSW winds will pick up some as the day goes on and surf will remain semi-clean.
High tide will be at 10:46 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:08 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 3 at 6.7 sec. in medium period east/north-east wind/swell and medium period ground-swell combo.
Small, semi-clean steep north-east swell fades out a little smaller this morning. Surf went small for today as a high pressure is set up over our marine area. We hope to see small south/south-west wind swell pick up some tomorrow as another cold front approaches, hopefully Santa will bring us some waves! We could have some small north-east wind waves for Christmas Day before surf gets small again for the holiday work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Saturday, then a cold front will move through Sunday morning. High pressure will then rebuild through Tuesday. A series of upper disturbances may affect the area mid to late next week.”
Expect an ok beach weather today. It’s now 57* with some sun and clouds. Look for a high of 68* and sun today.
Water temperature is around 54*.
Sunset is at 5:47 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:52 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
