Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Saturday, February 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Our 4/3 wetsuits are on sale. It’s still 4/3 weather, and you’ll need one when it gets cold next year, and we still have a good selection of O’Neill Technobutter 4/3 suits in the shop. Come check them out.

Surf is pretty much flat again this morning. And the good news is, it’s choppy, too. We have westerly wind starting to pick up side-shore out here at the beach. We see wind speeds increase at 15 to 20 knots through the morning.

Winds go offshore north-west at 15 to 20 this afternoon after a cold front passes our marine area today.

We have a low tide at report time this morning, and high tide will be at 2:12 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:11 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 foot at 5 seconds in a short-period south-west wind swell.

We see increasing westerly winds ahead of an approaching cold front for your Saturday morning, and this will chop up the surf-zone as side-shore winds increase 15-to-20 knots up the beach before winds go off-shore from the north-west after a cold front passage this afternoon. It’s not looking like the surf will build much over the weekend. Best chance might be Monday afternoon into Tuesday as high pressure sets up just to our north and low pressure to our south. This should bring some on-shore flow from the east/north-east. Hopefully some surf sneaks into our beaches without too much north-east angle in it for mid-week. Florida might be the call once again early/middle of next week, but there could be some wind down there, too.

Water temp is around 56*.

The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “A cold front will move through Saturday, then high pressure will build in through much of next week.”

It’s 58* and cloudy this morning. Look for temperature to stay the same with clouds and a 30% chance for a shower as our cold front moves through.

Sunrise is 7:02 a.m., Sunset 6:04 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
