Saturday, Feb. 28

Good morning, this is Luke Da Kook with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, February 28 at 8:30 a.m.

Thanks Anthony for helping us assess the waves today at the Pier.

Sea and Sand Festival is on right now, so Center Street will be closed off and everyone is pretty much set up. Come to See Sand at Folly Beach. Haha.

Surf at the Pier tells the story this weekend. The only thing that’s crack-alackin’ at the beach is the festival today. Surf is pathetic, but there is hope on the horizon for next week, finally.

Winds are slight off/side-shore this morning from the north, and we expect north winds at 10 knots today.

Tide is going out. We have a low tide at 11:34 a.m.  high tide at 5:53 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is 5.6 ft at 5 seconds from the north-east, moving past our beaches down Florida way.

We are still looking at small waves this weekend. But north-east wind swell begins to build Monday as high pressures set well out in the Atlantic. This should create tadewind-swell for us Tuesday and into late week as winds become moderate on-shore from the east/south-east for mid-week. fLook thigh-belly high surf with warm air temps. Won’t likely be anything epic but will be plenty of fun mid-week, and its been so damn flat, we’ll take anything!

Your NOAA Marine weather forecast calls for Folly Beach calls for: “High pressure will prevail through the weekend. A cold front will likely bring elevated winds and seas early next week, followed by another area of high pressure.”

Water temp is still around 53*, so boots/gloves and a 4/3 suit are still in order. It should start warming up in the coming weeks.

It’s 58* and cloudy. Look for mostly cloudy skies and a high of 65 with rain moving in later*.

Sunrise was 6:50 a.m. Sunset 6:15 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
