Good morning this is Bates with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, February 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is running about thigh to waist high in a fresh north wind-swell.

Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots, and surf is drifty and side-shore with waves coming in at a high angle.

We expect to rotate more to the north-east today and blow 15 to 20 knots with gusts to 20 knots as a storm system develops just offshore.

High tide is at 11:31 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:11 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 8 seconds in an east/south-east swell, but this is pushing against a building, short-period north/north-east wind swell, currently reading 5 feet at 5 seconds.

Waves are going to be building from the north-east today, and getting some size overnight. Winds come south-west on Sunday, pushing in some of the building north-east wind swell, but wind will be a factor today and tomorrow. Winds are predicted off-shore on Monday, but it’ll be blowing around 20 knots on average. Hope for a quick clean up for Monday morning, but surf should get beat down as our coastal low departs to the north-east. Next swell shows Thursday and Friday of next week as a cold front approaches our marine aera.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A strong low pressure system will develop along the coast today, then move northeast through Sunday. High pressure will then prevail through the middle of next week before a cold front arrives by late next week.”

It’s 56* and raining this morning. Look for rain today and cooler weather with a high of 58*.

Water temperature is 57*.

Sunrise is at 7:06 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:01 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
