Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, February 13 at 8:30 a.m.
We’ve got wet-suits jackets in the shop for spring. Yes, it’s cold, but come by and get one while they are still available. Wetsuit gear has been going fast.
Surf at The Washout is knee-high with a slightly bigger set. It’s drifty from north-to-south.
Winds are north-north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is side-shore and semi-choppy. It’s a bit weak at the higher tide this morning.
High tide is at 9 a.m. and we have a low tide at 3:03 p.m. High tide is at 9:08 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 4 ft. at 5 seconds in a shorth-period north-east wind swell, with a small south-easterly ground swell component.
We have high angled north-east wind swell in the water this morning with raw conditions at the beach. Bring your full wetsuit kit if you want to surf today or Sunday. Surf should pick up some Sunday into Monday as swell is forecast to move more on-shore from a south-easterly direction on Sunday as low pressure passes off-shore along a frontal boundary. Surf continues into Monday, then picks up Tuesday as winds go south-west ahead of another cold front. So, if you are into some cold surf, might be a few to ride for the next few days. Another storm system follows with more south wind swell late week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A wedge of high pressure will persist inland through the weekend, while waves of low pressure pass along a stalled front lingering nearby. A cold front will pass through the area Tuesday, followed by another storm system late next week.”
It is cold, cloudy and rainy at the beach. It’s 44*. Look for a high of 48* and rain this afternoon.
Water temperature is 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:03 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:03 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
