Good morning this is Bates with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, February 18 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly this morning is knee-high.

South swell from yesterday has been beat down by strong north winds.

Winds are strong from the north at 15 to 20 with a higher gust. Surf-zone is side-shore, semi-choppy and drifty down the beach.

Look for north-winds to go north-east at 10 to 15, then diminish late in the day. We see a semi-choppy, drifty surf zone today.

Tide is now going out. Low tide is at 12:14 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:12 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.6 feet at 7 seconds in a medium-period, north-east wind swell.

Winds rotate offshore overnight knocking the surf back down into a fading trend for your Saturday as swell changes to a high-angled, north-east direction. Sunday will show less wind and warming temperatures. Hopefully a moderate south flow on Sunday will send in some longboardable surf. Looking into early in the upcoming work-week, high pressure sets up, and surf stays overall small in a short-period south-west wind swell. Another cold front will approach the marine area late week, bringing with it another south wind swell with the hopes of a quick clean up Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will build into the area through much of next week.”

It’s cool and sunny this morning. It’s 43*. Look for a high in the mid-50s and sun today. Overall, not a bad beach day, if not a little cool.

Water temperature is 58*.

Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:05 p.m.
