Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, January 30 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a shipment of new Smith sunglasses. Come check them out.
Winds are north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, semi-choppy and a bit drifty down the beach.
Look for east winds this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots, and small semi-choppy surf later today.
High tide is at 8:44 a.m., and low tide is at 3 p.m. Your next high tide is at 9:06 a.m.
The virtual buoy is reading 1 ft at 11 seconds in a long-period north-east ground swell, which is passing by our beaches.
A low-pressure system moves east into the mid-Atlantic today. This should push up a significant north-easterly ground swell, but most of the swell will pass by Folly today and Saturday. Points south in Florida that like north-east swell should pick up a nice ground-swell today, fading some on Sunday down south. We do see building, choppy south wind-swell on Sunday ahead of another cold front, cleaning up and fading into Monday afternoon as high pressure builds in to start your work week. Monday could have some fun, cold, clean waves as winds go off-shore and swell begins to fade. Surf looks smaller into mid-week as high pressure sets up.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail today, then move offshore tonight. A storm system will bring impacts to our area Sunday into Sunday night. High pressure will then steadily build into the region through the middle of next week.”
It is cold this morning, with temperatures around 39* at the beach. There is lots of sun, and we see a high of only 51* today. Pretty nice beach weather.
Water temperature is 54*.
Sunrise is at 7:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:50 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
