Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Saturday, January 13th at 8 a.m.
All of our boardshorts have been marked down 40%, and we have a great selection.
New Gary Wilson boards have arrived in the shop. Come check out the new selection.
Surf is looking around waist to chest high this morning with a slightly bigger set to shoulder high from time to time. It’s kind of soft and up in the rocks at the higher tide this morning, but it looks fun, and the wind hasn’t really picked up just yet. That should change this afternoon.
Currently winds are west around 10 knots and surf is clean. Winds are predicted to pick up significantly from the west at 10 to 20 knots with a higher gust. This should beat the surf down as the tide drains out around 3:30 this afternoon.
High tide will be at 9:09 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:20 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is currently reading 7 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period south swell.
Plenty of swell at the buoy means we should have some waves as the tide falls out this morning, just look for winds to increase from the west and beat down the surf this afternoon. Still, there is something to ride, and might want to get it today, because next week is looking pretty bleak as far as your wave forecast. We will have off-shore flow and cool/cold temperatures in the forecast for much of the upcoming work week into next weekend, so get it this morning if you can.
NOAA Forecast: “High pressure will prevail this weekend. Low pressure could then impact the Southeast early next week, before high pressure prevails during the middle of next week. Another low pressure system could impact the area late next week before more high pressure returns next weekend.
Current water temp: 57*.
It’s 55* this morning and sun mixed with clouds We have a high of 55* with sun and wind this afternoon.
Sunrise is 7:22 a.m., Sunset 5:30 p.m.
That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
