Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, January 16 at 8:30 a.m.
We received a few Catch Surf 7’0” soft-boards this week, which have been hard to find. Come on by and check them out.
Surf at Folly is around knee-to-thigh high this morning.
Winds are west this morning at 10 knots, and surf zone is side/off-shore and fairly clean.
Look for winds to increase westerly today at 20 to 25 knots by early afternoon. Surf will get drifty and semi-choppy this afternoon. There is a small craft advisory in effect.
We have a high tide at 10:10 a.m. and a low tide at 4:16 p.m.
Virtual buoy data is reading a very small 3.6 ft. at 4 seconds in a short-period west/south-westerly wind-swell.
Westerly winds are forecast to be strong today after last the passage of last night’s strong cold-front. Surf stays small Sunday and into our work week. Another low will move though during the latter part of next week and might push up another south wind-swell. We’ll keep you posted.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Cool, dry high pressure will prevail over the weekend into early next week. A weak cold front is expected to pass over the region near the end of next week.”
It is 41* with sunny skies this morning. Look for sun and strong wind today with a high of 46*. There is a gale warning at the beach today.
Water temperature is down to 53*.
