Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Saturday, January 20 at 8 a.m.

Taste of Folly is taking place today on Center Street. Keep in mind that a large portion of Center Street is closed as of 8 a.m., and will be closed most of the day. Expect a few delays.

It’s Flat at Folly. No surf, and we expect this trend to continue into Sunday as winds blow strong from the north.

Currently winds are light from the north and it is pretty cold out there.

Look for north winds to increase today as Arctic high pressure builds into our marine area.

Low tide is approaching at 9:36 a.m. High tide will be at 3:36 p.m., and low tide will again occur after dark at 9:37 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is currently reading 4 feet at 6 seconds in a north/north-east wind swell moving down the coast. This should increase, but will result in few waves for us Sunday and Monday.

Not expecting much out there today, it’s pretty small. We see cold temperatures and very cold weather for the weekend through Monday, but get your chores done, because starting late Tuesday through Saturday we expect high pressure to move off of the mid-Atlantic to the east and we should see a really nice Bermuda high pressure wind swell move into South Carolina’s Beaches. Winds will be moderate from the south, and air temperatures are forecast to get warm. So cold water warriors suit up and get ready for some fun waves next week.

NOAA Forecast: “Arctic high pressure will prevail through the weekend. A few upper disturbances could move through early to mid next week.”

Current water temp: 57*.

It’s a cool 31* with sun this morning. Expect a high of only 45 with sun and wind picking up from the north.

Sunrise is 7:21 a.m., Sunset 5:38 p.m.
