Good morning this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, January 7th at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout this morning are knee high and breaking onshore. May push a log for the desperate, but you’ll only have a couple seconds of riding before hitting sand.
Winds are north-west at 5 mph this morning providing clean conditions and great form.
We see west winds continue at 0-5 mph today, and surf should be overall clean today.
Tide is going out off an early 8:01 a.m. high, and low tide is at 2:09 p.m. with a high tide at 8:16 p.m. after sunset.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 ft at 8.3 seconds in medium period SE swell moving away from our shores.
A weak cold front moved in overnight headed over central waters today into Sunday. A weak cold front continues through early next work week that could push a quick small log wave on Monday. Keep an eye on low pressure trough development off Mid-Atlantic coast Monday, but unlikely to produce much. Looking further ahead, keeping a close eye on a low that looks to develop in the eastern gulf of Mexico that models have pushing off the south-east coast that could be a potential wave maker middle of next week. We’ll keep you updated.
Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will linger over the region through this weekend. A weak cold front is forecasted to move through the area Sunday night, followed by another area of high pressure. A storm system could then impact the region towards the end of next week.
It’s a sunny brisk morning currently 43 degrees. Look for a high of 66 degrees as the day progresses at our beaches.
Water temperature, it’s 55*.
