Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 10 at 8:00 a.m.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-to-waist high and it looks pretty fun. Winds are side-shore, but light, from the west/south-west at 6 knots, and surf is soft at the higher tide, but it’s pretty clean. Certainly fun for the high volume board. The set waves seem to be pushing into the stomach high range, with a solid line if you catch it at the right spot.
Look for winds to shift to the south, south-west this afternoon at 10 to 15 with a gust at 15-20 knots. We should see choppier surf this afternoon.
We just had a high tide 8:54 a.m., low tide will be at 2:48 p.m.
It’s a fun morning of surf, but we see winds increasing from the south-west this afternoon and surf gets choppy and drifty later today. I suggest getting out there as soon as you can before the wind chop takes a toll. There should be some rideable south-west wind swell this weekend, but it’ll be best for the high volume board. Winds continue south-west this weekend, keeping things drifty and choppy. We see long-boardable south wind swell in the forecast to start the work week. Nothing too big, but likely ridable on the right gear. If you’re looking to practice some soft cutbacks and nose-riding on your new longboard today is the day to hit it before that tide drains out.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Offshore high pressure will gradually take control of the weather pattern as we move through the weekend and into early next week. The high will weaken as it drifts west just off our coast into mid next week.”
It’s partly cloudy this morning and 75*. Look for a high of 86* today and sunny for the remainder of the afternoon
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
