Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 14 at 8:15 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is around knee to thigh high. There is a waist high set, and looks fun for the longboard or the fish.
Winds are north/north-east at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is semi-choppy and soft (with water in the rocks at high tide) this morning.
Expect easterly winds around 10 knots throughout the day, creating some chop and a little current in the surf zone.
We have a high tide at 9:34 a.m., and a low tide at 3:31 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:59 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is 3 ft. at 8 seconds in medium period east/south-east swell and a short period north-east wind swell.
We see small leftover swell from the remnants of what was tropical storm Beryl moving well away from our swell window today, and we have some very small leftovers to ride this morning at the high tide. Best for the longboard. We see choppy knee to thigh high waves late this afternoon as the tide comes in and winds blow east at around 10 knots. We should see some small longer period swell Sunday and Monday for the longboard waves. But our next bigger swell looks to come into play late Tuesday and into the middle of next week as a cold-front approaches and we see an increase in choppy, short-period south/south-west wind swell for the middle of your work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front over southern Georgia will gradually dissipate this weekend. A cold front will approach the region during the middle of next week.
It is 80* with sun and some clouds this morning. Look for a high of 84* and a 20* chance of a thunderstorm today.
Water temperature is 86*.
