Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high with an occasional waist high set as the tide comes in.
Winds are light west/north-west and surf zone is very clean. Good little longboard glide out there this morning.
We are expecting winds to increase south at 10 by mid-afternoon. We should see some bump in the surf-zone later today.
We see a high tide at 10:45 a.m., and a low tide at 4:45 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3feet at 10 seconds in a long period east/south-east swell.
We’re looking at small south wind swell today in the thigh range. We could see a more significant swell Sunday afternoon increasing Monday as low pressure from the GOMEX passes near our marine area and high-pressure sets up well off the Mid-Atlantic states, pushing in some trade wind swell. Get your chores done.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Wet and unsettled weather will continue through the weekend into the majority of next week.”
It’s 77* and cloudy this morning. Expect a chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm today with a high of 84*.
Water Temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:23 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:27 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
