Clean. Choppy this afternoon.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh. Waist set.
Traffic: Yes. Lots.
Parking: Not much.
Dangers: A few jellyfish stings reported.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 23 at 8:30 a.m.

We’ve got another shipment of Catch Surf softies in the mix. We also received a shipment of Mick Fanning Softboards, including the DHD fish models. Come check ‘em out before we sell out again.

Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high. Perhaps a bigger set to waist, but it’s pretty drained out on the outgoing this morning.

Winds are west/north-west and pretty clean this morning. Look for winds to clock south-west at 10 knots mid-morning, then go south and increase 15 to 20 mid-afternoon. We see a choppy surf zone later today.

Low tide will be at 10:27 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:02 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.

If the wind holds off might be a longboard glide out here in a small south-east swell. Nothing to great, but bring the log if you want to get wet. Waves get choppy this afternoon as winds increase south at 15 to 20 knots.  Looks about the same for Sunday, though waves could pick up a little on the higher tide late afternoon. High pressure sets up off the Mid-Atlantic late Sunday and into early next week, so expect small trade-wind swell to pick up again late day Monday and into the middle of next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will build in through the weekend and prevail through next week.”

It’s 78* with high clouds and sun mixed. We’ll have a high of 84* today with a chance of showers and thunderstoms in the late afternoon.

Water Temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:28 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
