Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 3 at 8:30 a.m.
We’ll be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Come by and see us. We hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high and closing out at the lower tide. It’s Ok for the longboard glide if you need to get wet, but it’s not very big.
Winds are north/north-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for east winds this afternoon at 10 knots, and we see a semi-choppy, bumpy surf zone later today.
We have a low tide at 9:32 a.m., and a high tide at 4:01 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:19 p.m.
We continue to see a south trade-wind style swell today averaging knee-to-thigh high with some bump in it this afternoon as the winds come east at 10 to 12 knots.. Surf looks smaller for Sunday into Monday, but of course we have Hurricane Elsa that looks to take a path up the Florida Peninsula and will likely bring us a choppy, windy/ wind-chop swell Tuesday into Wednesday of next week. Hopefully the storm isn’t too strong, but might want to get ready to batten down the hatches Wednesday into early Thursday morning.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will stall across Southeast Georgia today and remain through early next week. Hurricane Elsa could bring impacts to the region toward the middle of next week. Refer to the latest advisory on Elsa issued by the National Hurricane Center.”
It’s partly cloudy and 73* this morning. Look for partly cloudy skies today and a high of 84*.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
