Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 30 at 8:30 a.m.
The 20th Annual Wahine Classic takes place today and tomorrow at The Washout. Come support these ladies as compete and shred it up. We’ll see you out there.
Everyone is already set up and ready to go. But beware, there is absolutely no parking left at The Washout this morning.
Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh with a waist set. There is a rare stomach peak and looks OK for the high-volume board this morning.
Winds are southwest at 6 to 8 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and bumpy, but and it’s not too choppy.
Look for south-west winds at 10 to 15 knots late morning, going south at 15 to 20 later this afternoon. Overall surf-zone will be choppy today.
High tide will be at 9:44 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:32 p.m. The next high tide at 9:54 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5 feet at 6 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell, with a south-east medium period swell 2 feet at 9 seconds.
Waves this morning running in the thigh-high range with some bigger sets. A few waves have a decent face on them. Look for things to get choppy this afternoon with south-west winds increasing 15 to 20. South-west wind waves continue rideable with cleaner mornings and choppy afternoon sessions through the weekend. Early mornings are your best bet with the morning high tides and lighter winds. Surf looks to stay about the same into early next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A front will pass to our north into tonight. High pressure will then prevail through most of next week.”
It’s 83* with clouds this morning. We’ll have a high of 87* today and sunny to partly cloudy skies for the afternoon. Heat index breaking a hundred. Might be a thunderstorm later today.
Water Temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:32 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:18 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
