Saturday, July 8

Clean early. Choppy later.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh.
Traffic: Yes. Lots.
Parking: Not easy.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 8 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the washout are around knee-to-thigh high.

Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean.

Look for south-west winds at 10 knots this afternoon, adding surface chop to small surf.

We are coming off a low tide, and high tide will be at 12:56 p.m. Low tide will suck out at 6:57 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 5 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell.

Surf is looking pretty small for your Saturday. Best for the long-board, but it is rideable. The best hope for lame summer waves is Sunday afternoon into Monday when south-west winds pick up, but surf is looking overall anemic as far as any real groundswell. Right now, the whole week is looking like it’ll be a small south wind chop in the surf zone. Spend time with loved ones and wait for that first hurricane swell to show up in August.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “An inland trough will persist through tonight. A weak cold front will approach early next week and meander nearby into mid week before dissipating.”

Water temperature is around 85*

Your weather forecast calls for: hotter than a (insert inappropriate colloquialism here). As humid as (insert inappropriate colloquialism here), and as miserable as a (insert inappropriate colloquialism here).

Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
