Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, June 10 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is flat. Like being stuck on the highway kind of flat.
Winds are north-north/west at 5 knots, and surf-zone is perfectly clean. Might be a good day to take out the SUP, or the water-ski boat.
We have variable winds at 5 knots today. Surf-zone should stay fairly clean all day, but no surf to ride. The beach weather is absolutely perfect. Expect heavy traffic. You all are staying home anyway. Locals don’t come to the beach on the weekends.
We just came off a low tide this morning. We have a high tide at 2:13 p.m., and a low tide at 8:16 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period east/south-east wind swell. Yep, summer is upon us.
Today and into the weekend, high pressure will set up, making for less wind and small surf. Late weekend into the start of the work week we should see a small building trend as a weak front and offshore high pressure should generate some onshore flow creating some typical wind/trade swell. But it’s looking like typical south-west wind swell as summer sets in, and waves get small. Only three months to go until you are a hero when hurricane swell moves in.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will build into the region today. A front will lift northward through our region on Sunday, followed by a cold front advancing into the region Monday into Tuesday. The front could linger across the region through the middle of next week.”
Water temperature is around 77*.
Its 72* with sunshine, but a little hazy. Look for a high of around 78* with sun and some passing clouds.
Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:27 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
