Saturday, June 20
Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, June 20 at 8:30 a.m.
There is not a fish safe from frozen, cut-mullet and bloodworms at the pier this morning.
The traffic is already started to back up
Surf at The Pier is running knee high with a thigh set. It’s nice and clean. I’d say it’s the logs only crew if you want to surf today.
Winds are north-west at 5 knots. We see north-west winds until early afternoon with easterly winds at 10 knots adding chop to the outgoing tide this afternoon.
We are coming off a low tide. Tide is coming in. We have a high tide at 1:23 p.m. Low tide will be at 7:14 this evening.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet ft at 6 seconds in a fading, short-period south/south-west wind swell
After strong south-west winds yesterday compliments of the remnants of Tropical Storm Authur coming across the Southeast out of the Gulf, winds have come offshore and the wind swell has died. Expect a similar wind swell as a front approaches early in the week, but certainly not much to write home about. Summer time, south-west wind-swell season has set in, and you might as well scare some fish with some cut mullet off of the pier.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak cold front will sag southward across the area this morning before stalling across Southeast Georgia through tonight. Broad high pressure will linger over the region through the rest of this weekend. Another cold front will approach the Southeast U.S. early next week.”
It’s a humid 78* and * with clouds this morning. We see a cloudy morning with clouds dissipating and sun peaking through this afternoon. There will be a high temperature of around 85*.
Water temperature It’s around 83*.
Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
