Saturday June 24th

Semi-choppy.

Time of Report: 9 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Thigh-waist. A bit bigger, occasionally.
Traffic: Ha! It's already picking up
Parking: Gonna fill in fast as the day progresses
Dangers: The weekend

Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Saturday June 24th at 9:00 a.m.

The tropics are getting busy. Come grab yourself a new stick to be ready for the next swell. Lots of new and used boards available.

Looks fun this morning on the incoming tide at the washout. Surf at Folly still has some size on it. It’s thigh to waist with a few bigger sets. Faces are fairly clean with the westerly wind this morning.

Winds are 6 kts from the west/south-west with a little drift.

Look for strong south west winds again today at 15 to 20, so we should see choppy south wind swell to average waist high with bigger sets for your Saturday, and this might continue into Sunday.

We have an incoming high tide at 1:04 p.m. Low will drop out at 6:49 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period south/south-west wind swell. And this should push waves into our beaches all day, but the local wind forecast is not looking stellar.

We see south/south-west wind swell pick up as a stationary front lingers over our area, then lifts north late later today. This should bring increased southerly winds. Southwest wind swell should get smaller on the outgoing tide Saturday afternoon and into Sunday, but likely still something to ride. Tropical Storm Bret is deep in the Caribbean and is likely to fade out. We now have Tropical Storm Cindy that is forecasted to track more northwest and possibly showing a small pulse just before next weekend. She is not forecasted to get beyond a tropical storm. We will keep an eye on these storms and update you as we get better information as the days pass.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region this weekend, followed by a front Monday night or Tuesday. High pressure will then return for the remainder of next week.”

Water temperature is around 80*

Its 78* and partly cloudy this morning. Looks like a pretty day at the beach with a high of 83* and partly cloudy and a solid sea breeze.

Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
