Choppy

Time of Report: 8:00 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Thigh-to-waist high
Traffic: None
Parking: Filling in some
Dangers: None

Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, June 5 at 8:00 a.m.

Come check out the new line of Mick Fanning Softboards that just arrived, including a few DHD fish models.

Surf at Folly is thigh-to-waist high with a larger set at the lower tide this morning. It’s looking like it might pick up some as the tide comes in later this morning, but the wind direction is causing lots of disorganization and soft textured breaks.

Winds are south-west at 10 knots, and surf is bumpy and choppy with minimal power. An occasional set wave poses a more favorable ride, but the swell period and disorganization is causing a congested break-zone.

Winds rotate south, south-east at 5-10 knots early this afternoon. Surf-zone should get choppy and wave should continue to maintain a choppy texture throughout the day.

We have a low tide at 11:05 a.m., and a high tide at 5:37 p.m.

We see increasing south wind-swell this afternoon with choppy conditions at the higher tide. Surf should remain rideable throughout the day, nothing great, but rideable. High pressure sets up to our north, as a mid-level low pressure system develops to our south-east late in the week. This will cause a bit more significant on-shore flow from the south-east into the weekend. Winds trend south at 10 to 15 knots for the period, so expect some chop in the swell. Small weak south swell should prevail into early in the work week. Not big, but likely rideable on the right gear.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will prevail through the middle of next week.”

It’s 79* and partly cloudy at the beach. Look for a high of 81* and minimal potential for rain this evening.

Water temperature is around 79*.

Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:25 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
