Good morning this is Bates your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, March 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly this morning is flat to knee high, choppy and weak overall with strong north/north-east winds. There is a current running down the beach.

Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 20 knots this morning.

We expect north winds at 15 to 20 today, rotating north-west at 15 knots late day, when the surf zone will clean up for sunset.

We just had a high tide is at 9:53 a.m. with a low dropping out at 4 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6 feet at 5.6 seconds in a short period north-east wind swell, most of which passing our shores.  This trend will likely continue into early next week, but if you’re in Florida, you’ll likely be surfing.

Surf looks pretty ugly this morning knee high slop. We could get a little on-shore wind chop Sunday afternoon as winds come south, but if you want some surf, Florida might be the best call as the forecast calls for a north-east swell this weekend into early next week. Then into the middle of next week, it looks pretty dismal, with north winds and cooler weather. Not much surf in the forecast, unfortunately.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will pass to our north through tonight. A storm system will impact our region Sunday into Sunday night. The system will move out of our area Monday morning, followed by unseasonably cold High pressure through the middle of next week.”

It’s cool 52* and sunny.. Look for a cooler day with a high of 63* and sun/wind today.

Water temperature is up to 65*.

The days are getting longer. Sunrise is at 6:37 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:23 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
