Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, March 12 at 8:30 a.m.

We have new spring and summer apparel for men and women arriving daily. Come see what’s new at Ocean.

Remember to set your clocks ahead overnight. Looks like long, lazy afternoon sessions are back on the  menu.

Surf at The Washout this morning is a jumbled mess. It’s waist-to-chest high with a bigger set but it is so drifty and windy we’d call it blown out.

Winds are out of the south-west at 30 to 35 knots with a gust to 40 knots.

Winds clock west at 20 knots, then north-west by early afternoon. It’ll be blowing straight off-shore at a good clip by afternoon, so it should be blowing the spray off the top of a quickly fading, short-period south wind wave this afternoon.

Low tide is at 9:25 a.m., and high tide will be at 3:29 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:23 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 10 feet at 7 seconds in a short period south wind swell.

It’s windy and stormy at the beach, early. Look for westerly winds going straight off-shore this afternoon around 15 to 20 knots, fading late day. Hard to tell if the swell will hold, but the surf is likely to go from hero-to-zero pretty quickly this afternoon with strong off-shore winds. Sunday looks flat and cold, but another storm system will kick up more south wind swell Tuesday into Wednesday of next week, so you won’t have to wait long for some surf this week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A strong cold front will cross the region this morning. Cold high pressure will build into the area through early next week. Another storm system could affect the area by mid-week.”

It’s 70* and raining with gale force winds out here at the beach. Look for the sun to come out this afternoon and the temperature to drop to around 55* this afternoon. Strong winds are in the forecast all day.

Water Temperature is up to around 64*. It’ll drop after this weekend’s cold snap, but is generally on the way up.

Sunrise is at 6:33 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:24 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
