Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Saturday, March 2 at 8:30 a.m.
We have tons of spring merchandise arriving at the shop daily, and we now carry Stanley drinkware branded with Ocean Surf Shop logos, so come check those out. We’ve been staying well hydrated. We also just picked up sunscreen products by Vacation brand. Come see what’s new.
Surf on Folly about waist-to-chest high. It looks fun this morning. There is not too much wind, and there are some surfers catching some fun rides. It is kind of foggy at the beach.
Winds are out of the west very light. Surf is bumpy and closing out at the lower tide, but should get better form at high tide. It looks fun. Get it if you can.
Look for westerly winds at 5 knots this morning going south-west this afternoon at 5 to 10 knots. Shouldn’t be too much wind on it today, and it should be a fun day of surf.
High tide is at 11:48 a.m. Low tide is at 5:54 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 7 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.
Plenty of swell at the buoy means waves all day for Folly Beach, and we have very little wind in the forecast today. A front lingers in our area this weekend and should push up a decent little swell today and Sunday. Hopefully there won’t be too much wind, and right now, it’s looking like moderate wind and some rain with moderate temperatures. Could be some windows of fun surf all weekend. Keep your eyes on the flags. Swell should linger around into Monday. We’ll keep you updated.
The water temp is around 60*.
The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “A stationary front will linger over the area through Sunday. High pressure will briefly build in Monday, then a low pressure system will affect the area Tuesday through Thursday.
It’s warm. It’s 62* and cloudy. Look for a chance of rain showers today and a high of 65* with clouds all day.
Sunrise is 6:48 a.m., Sunset 6:15 p.m.
That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
