Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, March 20 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh with a waist set. Maybe slightly bigger as the tide comes in later this morning.

Winds are north at 15 to 20 knots, and surf is side-shore, very drifty and clean.

Look for winds to pick up significantly from the north-east this afternoon at 20 to 25 knots with a higher gust. Surf will be drifty down the beach and semi-choppy as seas and swell builds this afternoon.

Tide just started coming in. We will have a high tide at 1:22 p.m., and a low tide will be at 7:14 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 6.7 ft. at 6 seconds in a short-period north-east wind swell.

A wedge of high-pressure is anchored over our marine area as a low-pressure system lingers off-shore. This brings strong north-to-north-east winds for the weekend into early next week. We will see increasing, high-angled, north-east wind swell/ground swell combo with drifty conditions all weekend. It’ll likely still be rideable, but you’ll want to park a car at each end of the island and drift south to the other end. This swell trend runs through the early part of the work week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A wedge of high pressure will remain in place through the middle of next week while low pressure lingers offshore. A storm system could then impact the region by late next week.”

It is currently 44* with clouds this morning. Look for clouds and a high of 51* this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 60*.

Sunrise is at 7:24 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:29 p.m.
