Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, March 25 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly around thigh-to-waist high with stomach high sets. Maybe slightly bigger. Is side-shore and choppy with drift up the beach. There are waves, just not high quality.
Winds are moderate out of the south-west at 10 to 12, but are expected to pick up 15 to 20 by afternoon. We see building south-west wind swell for your Saturday, with drift and chp in the surf zone.
We have a high tide at 11:30 a.m., and a low tide at 5:23 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period south wind swell.
There is some on-shore flow, so there is a wave out here today. We do expect winds to come strong from the south-west this afternoon at 15 to 20. This will build wind chop surf today. Look for choppy, drifty, windy conditions and strong south-west winds. This trend continues Sunday, but hopefully it will clean up some. This trend continues into the work week with short-period south-west wind swell continuing.
The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will approach from the west today, before stalling over the region through early next week. High pressure is expected to return on Wednesday and persist into late week.”
It’s warm this morning. It’s 66* and sunny skies. Look for clouds this afternoon with a high of 70* and some wind.
Water temperature is 63*
Sunrise is at 7:19 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:33 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
