Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, March 27 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out the new towels from Nomadix. Compact, sand free, dries quickly and great for a late-night sex on the beach. (We’re talking about the liquor drink. Get your mind out of the gutter).
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high with a slightly bigger set as the tide starts to head out. It’s a weak, short-period south-west wind swell. It’s best for the longboard glide for sure.
Winds are south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is bumpy and fairly clean.
Look for winds to increase from the south at 10 to 15, increasing 15 to 20 knots this afternoon. Surf zone gets choppier this afternoon as the wind picks up.
Tide is going out and will be low at 1:37 p.m. High tide is at 7:53 this evening.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 2.8 ft. at 5 seconds in a small, short period south wind swell.
We see increasing south winds this afternoon and choppy, small wind swell in the forecast. Look for building choppy south-west wind swell again on Sunday ahead of a stronger cold front. Winds go north-east behind the front to start the work week, and we see high angled north-east wind swell once again for Monday. Most of this wind swell will pass by our beaches. Look for this swell to rotate more on-shore during the middle part of next week as a weak low brings on-shore flow to our marine area Tuesday and Wednesday. That will likely be our best chance for meaningful surf.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A weakening stationary front will lift north as a warm front Saturday. A cold front will move through late Sunday, then weak low pressure will track from the Gulf of Mexico across the region Monday night through Tuesday night. A stronger cold front will sweep through late Wednesday night, followed by cool and dry high pressure into next weekend.”
It is currently 67* with clouds at the beach. Look for a high of 80* today with sun and clouds mixed today. Should be nice beach weather, but the no-seeums have been bad.
Water temperature is around 63*, and should continue climbing.
Sunrise is at 7:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:36 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
