Glassy, weaker

Time of Report: 7:30
Wave Forecast: Waist-stomach
Traffic: None
Parking: A little crowded
Dangers: None

Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, May 15 at 7:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning continues in the waist-stomach high range, with rare occasional larger sets. Looks pretty clean this morning, with a nice breeze. Unfortunately a tad drained out this morning, but it should improve with the incoming tide if the wind maintains a beneficial direction.

Winds are north/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is glassy.

Look for winds to pick up and shift from the east, north-east late day at 5-10 knots. Surf-zone should stay semi-glassy today and increase in size, but expect the chop to roll through as the wind increases in speed. The wind direction also changes, which will likely not contribute to keeping the wave form at its best.

We have a high tide at 10:50 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:49 p.m.

Look for some solid rides out in the lineup today. This east/north-east wind development proposes some good conditions as the day goes on with the hope for larger gems as the tide fills in this late morning, but make sure to get on it before the wind direction shifts. The forecast should maintain some size as the week progresses, with potential for some more swell mid-week. Keep an eye on the cams for the tide push today, as it should hopefully punch into the waist-chest high range more consistently. We will keep you posted as the forecast continues to develop.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will begin to slide off the East Coast today and will remain the primary weather feature through most of next week.”

This morning it is sunny and a chilly 64*. Look for sun to remain and a high of 74* this afternoon.

Water temperature is up to around 73*.

Sunrise is at 6:20 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:12 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
