Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, May 22 at 8:30 a.m.

The Ocean Surf Shop SSC ESA Contest number two will take place today at The Washout. Go check it out.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to thigh high with a waist set.

Winds are north at 5 knots, and surf is overall pretty clean. It’s closing out a bit on the lower tide, but there is still some swell out there. Lots of people out here this morning.

Look for winds to rotate more easterly and increase 15 knots this afternoon, chopping up the surf at the higher tide later today.

We’ll have a low tide at 10:47 a.m., and a high tide will be at 5:12 p.m.

Look for choppy easterly wind swell to build again on the incoming tide this afternoon. Atlantic High pressure dominates our weather this week, and we should see high-angled east/north-east wind swell continue today averaging around thigh high. Small south-west wind swell is in the forecast for Sunday averaging knee high with clean conditions in the morning. This falls off to start the work week as south-west winds and hot weather will bring in small wind-chop for the start of the work week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will linger across the region through the middle of next week.”

We have nice beach weather. It’s 70* and sunny. Look for a high of 78* today and sunny skies. Enjoy this weather while you can, because summer’s heat is on the way next week.

Water temperature is around 74*. Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:17
