Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, May 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Congrats to all the graduates out there. Now, go surf and change the world.
Surf at The Washout this morning is flat.
Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean.
Look for winds to pick up from the west at 10 knots, going south-west late day at 15 to 20 knots. Surf should be weak and choppy later today.
We have a low tide at 12:25 a.m., and a high tide will be at 6:47 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings aren’t really worth mentioning. All swell is being blown west of our marine area.
We have small surf for today. Sunday, swell still looks small and choppy. Another cold front approaches our marine area early next week, and surf once again picks up a bit in a choppy, drifty south/south-west wind swell ahead of a cold front. Surf builds in size overnight on Sunday into Monday in a continued choppy south/south-west wind swell. Look for offshore winds and a clean up for Tuesday, before swell builds but comes more easterly for mid-week. Some swell models are showing another low pressure form off of our marine area late next week, increasing swell size Thursday into Friday. We’ll keep an eye on the forecast.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through the weekend. Low pressure and a cold front will approach the region early week, then linger through mid-week. High pressure will build into the region by late week.”
This morning is beautiful. It’s 68* and sunny. Look for sun and a high of 75* and nice, cool beach weather.
Water temperature is up to around 73*.
Sunrise is at 6:24 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:07 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
