Good morning this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, November 25 at 8:30 a.m.
Hoping everyone had a great Thanksgiving with plenty of leftovers for the week!
Waves at Folly today are averaging waist to chest high with a shoulder high set. There is a rare bigger set. It looks very fun, but it’s a little mushy with the high tide. I’d jump on it after peak high for the incoming low.
Winds are west, north-west at 5-8 knots, and surf zone is pretty clean. There is slight texture, but looks like a plethora of fun ones to be had.
We see winds switch more north-west today at 5-8 knots, and surf should maintain it’s form throughout the day. As long as the wind stays low, it’ll pump through the afternoon incoming low.
We had a high tide at 8:37 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:53 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.9 feet at 8.3 seconds in a medium period east, south-east swell, with a south-east wind swell 2 feet at 4.3 seconds.
We have a costal trough offshore through Thanksgiving. This will push up some rideable swell into the middle and latter part of your Thanksgiving holiday week. A warm front lifts north on Friday, and rideable waves should continue. Probably not super clean, but there is a little swell out there this week if you want to get wet. Winds will eventually flip south-west on Saturday ahead of a cold front. Look for a quick clean up on Sunday before surf gets small and cold to start the next work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A warm front will approach our area from the south on today, then move back to the south as a cold front tonight as high pressure passes to our north Saturday. The high pressure will then move offshore Saturday night. A storm system will impact the region on Sunday, followed by more high pressure through Wednesday.”
It’s a 59* with clouds this morning. Look for clouds today with some rain sporadically throughout the day. Expect a high of 63 this afternoon.
Water temperature is dropping off. It’s running around 61*
Sunrise is at 7:00 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:16 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
