Semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Waist high
Traffic: None
Parking: Lots
Dangers: Side-shore wind

Good morning this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, November 26 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Washout today are averaging waist high with an occasional stomach high set. It looks very weak and slightly side-shore. If you head out, you’ll find a couple rides, but they’ll be quick lines.

Winds are north, north-east at 11 knots, and surf zone is choppy. Sets are rolling in consistently, but angled.

We see winds switch more north-west today at 12-15 knots, and surf should continue to get increasingly choppier as the day progresses.

We had a high tide at 9:30 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:45 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 feet at 10.0 seconds in a long period south-east swell, with a north, north-east wind swell 4.9 feet at 5.6 seconds.

Leftover swell from Thanksgiving has produced some choppy north-east waves, coming in at an angle with little power. High pressure is expected to pass through out area this afternoon and tonight, which will diminish the swell. Winds will eventually flip south-west tomorrow ahead of a cold front. Look for a quick clean up on Sunday before surf gets small and cold to start the next work week. Into mid-week, expect a stronger cold front to push through the area Wednesday likely to drop our water temp even more than it already is.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A strong cold front has passed well E and SE of the waters this morning. High pressure will build over the area today and tonight, then shift E of the region Sun. Developing low pressure will track NE near the northern Mid-Atlantic and along the New England coasts Sun into Mon while pulling another strong cold front across the waters. A reinforcing cold front will then rapidly move SE over the area Mon night into Tue. A high pressure ridge will move slowly E across the waters Mon night and Tue, then shift E of the region Tue night. Yet another stronger cold front will approach the coast Wed and move offshore Wed night.”

It’s a 53* and sunny this morning. Look for some clouds today and a high of 69 this afternoon.

Water temperature is dropping off. It’s running around 61*

Sunrise is at 7:00 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:15 p.m.
