Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, October 8 at 8:30 a.m.

As of Monday, we will be opening at 10 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are flat. Ankle high waves are breaking into the rocks at the higher tide.

Winds are west/south-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is overall clean, early.

We see winds switch north-east at 10 knots this afternoon, adding surface chop to small waves.

Tide is going out this morning. Low tide will be at 1:20 p.m., and high tide will be at 7:41 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy 1.3 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period easterly swell. Small at the buoy, and no real waves for today.

Small surf continues into the weekend as a cold front pushes off-shore early afternoon, keeping surf small. We look for high-angled north-east wind waves to build starting Small on Sunday and building a bit into the first half of the work week. This wind swell will build and rotate easterly into the middle part of the work week with drifty conditions and high-angled, semi-choppy east/north-east wind waves. This easterly swell rotates more on-shore late week, which should make for some fun surf, if not very clean.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A weak cold front will move through the region early Saturday. High pressure will then build across the region behind the front and remain dominant through much of next week.”

Water Temperature went way down during hurricane Ian. It’s running around 71*.

It’s nice and sunny this morning, with temps around 65* and sun. As this cold front moves through today, things will get cloudy this afternoon with a high of 75*.

Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:55 p.m.
