Saturday, October 10

Clean. A little choppier for later.

Time of Report: 8 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee, occ. thign.
Traffic: Some. It's the undie run at the pier.
Parking: Not if you like to run around in your underwear for love.
Dangers: Skid marks

Good morning this is Batest with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Saturday, February 10 at 8 a.m.

Evidently Cupid’s Undie Run takes place around the pier area on the beach today at noon. So, if you like watching people run around in their underwear, or or so inclined to do so yourself and NOT be arrested for it, this is your lucky day.

The surf at the pier. Pier is looking pretty clean with waves around knee-to-thigh-thigh high. There is a little too much water under it at the pier, but a few are making it through at The Washout this morning. Ya’ know how the pier is at the higher tide.

Winds are currently light from the west/south-west.

We expect south-west winds today adding a little chop to smaller surf with winds increasing to 10 knots.

We have a high tide as of report time this morning, low tide will be at 2:09 p.m., and your next high tide will be at 8:12 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 10 seconds in a long period easterly swell, down from yesterdays swell of 3.6 feet at 10 seconds in what was an east/south-easterly swell.

Not too much out here today. This weekend we see south-west winds which will add some texture. May be a few bumps out there, but don’t expect too much. Sunday, surf could pick up a little, but look for windy, but increasing surf size Monday afternoon into Tuesday as south-west winds pick up ahead of an approaching storm system. Winds go west on Tuesday, so hopefully a clean up later Tuesday. Keep an eye on the flags. Mid-to-late-week looks to be small surf as high pressure moves in to our area.

Water temp is around 55*.

The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “High pressure will prevail today, before a storm system impacts the area Sunday night into Monday. High pressure will return for the middle of the week.”

It’s 58* and sunny. Look for a high of 62* today and some clouds moving in this afternoon.

Sunrise is 7:08 a.m., Sunset 5:59 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
