Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, October 16 at 8:30 a.m.

The Carolina Surf Film Festival will take place at Mex 1 Cantina on tonight. Come check it out. Doors at 5 p.m., movies start right around dark.

We have received tons of new boards over the past two days. Boards from Gary Wilson, Solid Surf, Torq along with softboards and bodyboards from SofTech. We are finally stocked WAY back up, so come check it out.

Surf at the Washout is knee-high. It’s closing out at the lower tide this morning.

Winds are side/off-shore, westerly at 12 knots. Surf is a bit crossed up, but overall semi-clean. It’s not looking so hot this morning.

Look for increasing south-west winds at 15 knots this afternoon making small surf bumpy and choppy.

Tide is on the way out, and low tide will be at 11:18 a.m. High tide will be at 5:49 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

Look for waves to get choppier this afternoon as south-west winds pick up ahead of an approaching  cold front. The wind swell this afternoon will not build much size. A cold front moves offshore overnight, and we see more high-pressure set up late Sunday and to start the work week with strong north winds and much cooler weather on tap. Unfortunately surf is looking small for the next week, too. Tropics are quiet for now.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will push offshore this evening. High pressure will prevail across the region most of next week, followed by a cold front towards the end of next week.”

It’s 71* and sunny this morning. Beautiful fishing weather. Look for a high of 81* today with sun and some scattered clouds moving in later today. It’s a perfect fall beach day.

Water temperature is 76*.

Sunrise is at 7:24 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:46 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
