Clean. Choppy this afternoon.

Time of Report: 8:00 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-Thigh+
Traffic: Moderate
Parking: Plenty
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, September 16th at 8:00 a.m.

Definitely a cooler start to the day. We also have wet-suit jackets and spring suits in stock. Come and get’em before they are gone.

Its been a fun past week of surf. At the Washout this morning there is still a little something pushing through around thigh high and the winds are out of the north at 2 kts. It is glassy right now. sNot as much energy and has a little water under it with the high tide. Boards with a little extra foam are working.

Expect winds to pick up out of the north east around 5-10 kts creating a choppier conditions.

We have a high tide at 9:22 a.m. and low tide is at 3:22 p.m. The next high tide will be at 9:27 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 feet at 12 seconds in a long period east swell compliments of hurricane Lee.

Waves have faded as Lee has blown by us. This fading trend continues into this evening and tomorrow, we may still have some leftovers. Looking ahead surf will be on the smaller side Sunday into mid-week. We have Tropical Depression 15 which is expected to become Nigel later today east of the Caribbean. Looking like a similar path as Lee but also appears to be a high pressure to our north will produce NE winds and unfortunately put a damper on conditions. Late next week models suggesting a possible locally produced low off Florida SE coast that’s a ways away. Lots of swell still in our forecast in the next 7 days just not as good as it has been lately.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will build in from the north through Saturday, with a cold front to move through late Sunday. High pressure will then rebuild much of next week, before a trough develops offshore late in the week.”

 Water temperature is around 83*.

It’s 69* and feels great this morning. Look for a high of 80* and sunny.

Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:25 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
