Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, September 17 at 8:30 a.m.

New Gary Wilson boards are in the shop. Just in time for our next hurricane swell. Surf fast and take chances.

Waves at Folly this morning are averaging knee-high at the low tide. It’s side-shore and semi-choppy with some drift from north-to-south. Doesn’t look too fun this morning, but if you want to paddle, you can paddle north.

Winds are north/north-east at 15 knots.

Winds rotate north-east and will increase 15 to 20 knots mid-afternoon. We see a choppy, drifty surf zone this afternoon with high-angled north-east wind swell in the water today.

We just had a low tide. High tide will be at 1:55 p.m., and low tide will be at 8:22 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period east/north-east wind swell. Most of this is passing by our beaches.

We should see choppy east/north-east wind waves today with some drift from north to south. We see strong north-east winds and high angled, short period north-easterly conditions today through Monday. Look for this high angled easterly swell to rotate more onshore late Monday into Tuesday. We now have Tropical Storm Fiona in the picture, moving into the Caribbean this weekend and into our swell window Wednesday. This should push some hurricane swell into our beaches Wednesday into Thursday of next week with moderate winds expected. Leash up and be a hero. That’s the next swell to keep an eye on, so get your chores done this weekend.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will be the primary weather feature across the region through next week.

Water Temperature is around 83*.

It’s 73* and cloudy this morning. Look for mostly cloudy skies today and a high of about 81*. In the South, we call this “False Fall.”

Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:23 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
