Good Morning. This is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Sept. 23 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout this morning is waist to stomach high with sets to chest high in semi-inconsistent south-east ground swell. There is a RARE bigger set.

Surf is breaking up in the rocks this morning at the higher tide, but should get better form late-morning as the tide drops some.
Surf zone is clean, early.
We have NE winds this morning at 5 to 10 knots. We look for ENE winds increasing 10 to 15 knots late.
High tide will be at 10:51 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:48 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:59 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 7.2 ft. at 11 seconds in building, medium-to-long period easterly/south-easterly swell.
Major Hurricane Maria is starting to push in another big ground swell over the weekend. We should see semi-consistent but increasing long period swell today in the stomach high (plus) range as the tide pushes. We look for another big ground-swell peaking on Sunday, with plenty of ground-swell in the water to start the work week. Winds trend north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots – side-shore – for the period. Swell begins to fade late Tuesday into Wednesday of next week. Another big swell in the forecast for a historic hurricane surf season.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through this weekend. The high will weaken and shift inland as Hurricane Maria tracks northward off the Southeast U.S. coast through the first half of next week. A cold front could approach the forecast area late next week.”

It is 77* and sunny this morning. Expect a high of 85* and sun this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 81*.

Sunset is at 7:15 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:08 a.m.
